In this essay we will explore the importance of responding withlanguage to solutions for change. This assignment challenges you to identify and describe possible solutions for food and social justice issues discussed throughout the semester. Topics might include, but are not limited to:

? Cesar Chavez and the Farm Worker Movement
? Gardens and Food Deserts
? The Urban Farming Movement
? The Rise in Organic and Sustainable Farming Practices
? South Central Farms—the tragedy of a farm lost and the legacy of determined people.
? A topic of your own choosing (does not have to be food related, but must deal with a social justice issue).

For this assignment identify, discuss, and analyze possible solutions for a food and/or social justice issue and explain their significance for an informed reader. You can use ideas: generated from research, readings, class discussions or documentaries, related to your major, or that are more personal in nature.

Reference at least five sources. Feel free to also include various forms of media (i.e. books, articles, documentaries, films, and advertisements). Do not use Wikipedia. Make sure to incorporate significant words and phrases in the essay. You may also narrate sections of your essay.

As you are drafting consider who might disagree with your explanations. Include a section where you acknowledge the disagreement and attempt to resolve it.

The final paper must be at least 950-1050words in length, have a works cited page, a minimum of five appropriately cited sources, and include a minimum of fourshort quotations complete with in-text citations. As this is not a lengthy paper, please use succinct quotes.
